Following years of music theatre and classical performance Shannon decided to start playing with the cool kids and moved in to the jazz world.  Soon after her musical transition she was fortunate to happen upon Kira’s newspaper ad for a “Soprano Jazz Singer” and once the two gals found Chantelle to secure the foundation - Swing Rosie was born.  Over the past five years Shannon’s versatile voice has been right at home weaving through Swing Rosie's playful and intricate harmonies. Beyond performance she found it a particular joy to arrange songs for her bandmates’ beautiful voices.  Swing Rosie has been an amazing journey and Shannon is grateful to have been singing alongside two of her closest friends.

Looking to the future, 2008 will see the release of Shannon’s latest solo CD Words We Both Could Say.  This new album presents her jazz transformations of “standards” from a variety of artists including the Beatles, Tears For Fears, the Beach Boys and Patsy Cline.  With intelligent curiosity and a continuous search for the sweetest notes Shannon brings a personal twist to some public favourites.  On the swing side of things, Shannon Butcher and her Choice Cuts will continue to keep the dance floor jumpin’ at Lindy Hops here, there and everywhere.  Visit www.shannonbutcher.com to stay in touch!
